Course Description

This course is an overview of the mechanical codes as related to the HVAC industry in commercial and residential applications. In addition, installation manuals will be explored as to proper installation and usage of HVAC equipment. During the term there will be three field trips to visit job sites where students will identify code applications and violations.

Course learning outcomes

1. Student will utilize recognized standard building code guidelines as applicable.
2. Student will locate necessary information in the mechanical code manual in order to complete work processes and communicate with inspection officials.
3. Student will interpret installation manuals for safe and efficient equipment installations.
4. Student will complete a code prep exam with a 75% or higher score.
