Course Description
Explores the intersection of traditional and digital scientific illustration using industry-standard software. Emphasizes advanced observational accuracy and effective communication. Builds on the foundations learned in ART 143 and digital techniques covered in ART 141 and 142. Repeatable for credit.
Course learning outcomes
1. Produce detailed scientific illustrations using both traditional and digital techniques.
2. Articulate the evolution and significance of the Scientific Illustration field through historical context.
3. Develop advanced skills for precise and realistic rendering of scientific subjects in both traditional and digital media.
4. Demonstrate principles of illustrations: concept development, sketching, composition, and effective communication of scientific concepts.
5. Employ both field and virtual research methods to ensure scientific accuracy in illustrations.
6. Use media-specific terminology to receive and provide feedback.
