Course Description
This course offers an introductory analysis of legal concepts related to the aviation industry, including aircraft operations, airports, fixed based operators (FBOs), contracts, insurance and liability, regulatory statutes, and case law. The historical development of aviation law in the United States is included.
Course learning outcomes
1. Understand the basics of the US legal systems surrounding aviation, including government regulation of aviation and the impact of the US Constitution on aviation activities.
2. Understand specific legal theories applicable to aviation activities.
3. Through aviation case studies, develop critical thinking skills as applied to aviation legal issues.
4. Demonstrate the ability to spot legal issues in aviation activities and to apply basic analytical skills towards resolving those issues.
