Course Description

Focuses on introductory level skills used in structural plate welding in accordance with industry standards. Introduces basic welding processes, safety, nomenclature, and equipment operation for introduction to perform 1F and 2F weldments using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW).

Course learning outcomes

1. Practice safe practices in an industrial manufacturing setting.
2. Set up, maintain, and operate Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) equipment at an introductory level for basic weldments.
3. Weld common basic joint assemblies with Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) process to welding industry standards.
4. Apply basic visual examination principles and practices in accordance with welding industry standards.
