Course Description

Builds on concepts and principles of MFG Design/Drafting I. Focuses on higher-level operations of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create custom assemblies, produce working drawings, and simulate motion of parts.

Course learning outcomes

1. Maintain a catalog of parametrically modeled parts to be used in assemblies.
2. Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to produce working drawings.
3. Utilize animation features in CAD to create dynamic presentations or Showcase simulations of motion in an assembly.

Content outline

  1. File management philosophy
  2. Creating catalogs of parts in CAD software
  3. Producing drawings for industry
  4. Showcasing motion in assemblies
  5. Using motion simulation to highlight collision areas
