Additional fee required. Repeatable for credit.
1. Play the piano using newly acquired skills and techniques to demonstrate various aspects of musicianship development and mastery.
2. Perform piano repertoire at one’s skill level.
3. Practice self-analysis of performances (in lessons or in public) in order to promote self-sustaining improvement of skills development and musical expression.
The following categories of content are addressed in all applied lessons, regardless of performance level. For students at the extremes of the spectrum (beginners or advanced), additional content will be covered that is meaningful for individual circumstances.
Discussion of historical context and performance practice of works performed
Various method books, etudes and solo repertoire may need to be purchased.
Grades will be determined by the quality and depth of preparedness for each lesson, whether the student consistently appears on time for lessons and with the required or assigned texts, and pubic performances (juries, recitals, et cetera).
